TRANSPORT
Airports
Cardiff Airport and Bristol Airport are regional airports with a reasonable selection of flights; some involving transit via Amsterdam-Schiphol or Paris Charles de Gaulle. Cardiff Airport is about 45 minutes travelling time from the City Centre. Bristol Airport is further away and takes around 2 hours to reach. From London Heathrow and Birmingham you can also reach Cardiff in around 3 hours.

All the airport websites give information about how to travel from and to them but you will also find the National Rail website useful. When checking timetables, etc. the relevant stations are:

In Cardiff: Cardiff Central
For Bristol Airport: Bristol Temple Meads + Airport Bus
For Birmingham Airport: Birmingham International
For London Heathrow: Either London Paddington or Reading, according to whether you choose the Heathrow Express option or the RailAir bus link option.

There are also coach options from most airports, operated by National Express. Take care when booking train tickets as the cheaper “Advance” ones have restrictions associated with them and you will be charged a penalty if you travel on the wrong day/time. Tickets with “Anytime” fares, as the name implies, have wider validity.

Taxi service in Cardiff
•    Dragon Taxis, tel: +44 (0) 20 2033 3333, http://www.dragontaxis.com/
•    Premier Taxis, tel: +44 (0) 20 2055 5555, http://www.premiertaxis.net/
It is usually best to order by telephone.

Transport in Cardiff
Cardiff has an extensive public transport system based on buses and suburban railway services.
The railway timetables can be found on the National Rail website. Tickets can be purchased at ticket offices at the stations or when these are closed on the train from the conductor.

Information about the bus network and timetables can be found on the Cardiff bus website: (http://www.cardiffbus.com). You must have the right coins for the fare as the bus drivers do not give change. The fare is flat-rate within Cardiff - £1.50 single journey, £3 day unlimited.
