Upcoming BioVeL workshop

BioVeL is organizing its MS11 workshop: "Ecosystem Functioning & Valuation Web Services and Workflows," in Budapest, Hungary, June 6-7, 2013.
This event is organized in conjunction with the release of a new family of workflows for ecosystem modeling. This workshop aims at deepening collaborations between BioVeL and potential users of applied ecosystem modeling. More information.

BioVeL MS Metagenomics, March 21-22, 2013, Bremen, Germany
Altogether, 16 scientists and engineers from Micro B3 and BioVeL worked on designing workflows for the Ocean Sampling Day (OSD) and created a plan for implementing these workflows based on the web services of the e-infrastructure of BioVeL.

The European Commission (Unit Research Infrastructures) and the LifeWatch research infrastructure project together initiated the organization of a workshop “Towards a Roadmap for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research Infrastructures in Europe.”

BioVeL is funded by the European Commission 7th Framework Programme (FP7) as part of its e-Infrastructures activity (Grant no. 283359). Under FP7, the e-Infrastructures activity is part of the Research Infrastructures programme, funded under the FP7 'Capacities' Specific Programme. It focuses on the further development and evolution of the high-capacity and high-performance communication network (GÉANT), distributed computing infrastructures (grids and clouds), supercomputer infrastructures, simulation software, scientific data infrastructures, e-Science services as well as on the adoption of e-Infrastructures by user communities.
