How to analyze your data and get your results in various formats for easier interpretation and presentations of your results?

BioVeL is a virtual laboratory (e-Lab) that addresses the needs of a broad range of biodiversity scientists by offering a series of reliable computer tools (workflows and Web services) to access, prepare and analyze data from various sources.

The following areas of research are supported by BioVeL tools:

But these are not the limits of what is possible. Just that we have put most effort so far into these areas. If you have another area of interest, please contact us.

BioVeL has a tool adapted to your level of software development knowledge and interest:

For those with no experience with computer languages

The BioVeL Portal is a user-friendly interface where you can run already made workflows. Just upload your data, set up your parameters, run and see your results!

BioVeL Portal is free and accessible through a Web browser. However, we would appreciate if you would register so we can keep track of our users and better serve you.

The available workflows are listed in the "Directory of BioVeL Tools for Biodiversity and Ecosystems Research".

For those with some experience with computer languages (e.g. R-Script)

If you have some familiarity with computer languages, you can also add functions to the existing ones and/or create your own workflows from the Portal. However, you probably will find it more efficient to use our other suites of tools to create workflows through the Taverna Workbench.

For those who like to write their own software

We invite you to develop your own Web services and workflows.
We also would like to welcome you in our community that shares and curates software.
